Dr Eric (Jihoon) Joo
Eric completed his PhD at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in the field of epigenetics. His PhD focussed on measuring epigenetic discordances in newborn monozygotic and dizygotic twins to tease out genetic and environmental influences on epigenetic reprogramming, which takes place during early embryogenesis.
He is currently involved in large Epigenome-Wide-Association-Studies of multiple cancers in collaboration with Cancer Council Victoria. He has substantial experience in DNA methylation and gene expression assays (genome-wide and loci-specific), and bioinformatics analyses. His main research aim is to investigate the epigenetic mechanisms in cancer risk and tumourigenesis.
